17 August 1998 - Monday

Cruises with the young crews finished in Gibraltar. In spite of the young sailors'  inexperience and lack of emotional preparation for the hardships of sailing, the battles against adversities of fate and against hopeless weather ended up happily. The suitable weather conditions for sailing did not occur until Biscay Bay, and they had to wait for high temperatures till they reached Lisbon. Sailing with young crew required more attention, more work and more care from Jurek and Marcin. The changing of the crew for the "Old Sea Wolves" in Lisbon, let the guys relax and hang out a bit.

Let us get back to regatta. In Falmouth, Princess Anna, visiting Polish training vessel Dar Mlodziezy dedicated almost a minute to a chat about Antica's voyage, which made other captains a bit jealous, because a protocol provides only 20 seconds of talk with everyone.

From Falmouth to Lisbon Antica was sailing in the group of 14 similar yachts and she took 7th position. Among all Polish vessels taking part in Cutty Sark Race only Antica won a prize. After regatta they sailed to Faro and Olhalo in Portugal, then to Cadiz in Spain and Ceuta in Africa. The last correspondence arrived from Gibraltar. The nearest plans cover: Tangier, Ceuta and Malaga.
