09 April 2000 - Sunday

Antica has left Cozumel to sail to Havana. It was only two weeks ago that the captain was unsure of Antica's fate as he couldn't find a crew for the next stage. He decided he would continue the sail on his own. Antica is a kind of yacht which, due to the sails size and the construction, demands a few people in the crew. A one-man voyage on a yacht like that could turn out to be risky. In a dangerous water areas without autopilot and self-steeering devices the captain wouldn't have the other way but to stay awake throughout the night.

A couple of weeks ago on Antica's site we put information concerning our search for the crew from Cozumel to Havana. We had two answers - one from the USA the other one from Mexico. After 10 days, having exchanged several emails, the crew members turned up on board Antica in Cozumel. At the moment they're sailing to Havana and in few days time they are going to leave Cuba to sail to Florida.
